Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Clinic

At UMass Memorial, specialists in cardiac resynchronization therapy help you relieve the symptoms of heart failure by coordinating your heart's contractions. More recent trials, which have expanded the use of cardiac resynchronization therapy, have shown that early implementation can lessen the progression of heart failure.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy involves the implantation of a pacemaker (often combined with a defibrillator) which is done in our Electrophysiology Lab, the most advanced in Central New England.

You may benefit from receiving a cardiac resynchronization therapy device if you have:

  • A low ejection fraction, which refers to the amount of blood that is pumped out of the heart during each heartbeat
  • A finding on your EKG which shows evidence of heart pumping that is not coordinated
  • Heart rhythm problems
